VI. Facilities Maintenance and Capital Improvements

Maintain and upgrade our buildings to serve the needs of the community, preserve long term value and afford opportunities for rental income.

  1. Allocate budget and implement schedule for ongoing preventive maintenance, inspections, small repairs, and cleaning.
  2. Continue to make Beth Israel available for rentals and community events.
    • Review kitchen policies to ensure the balance of Kashrut observance and use by the broader community.
  3. Develop a plan for long term infrastructure replacement and preservation of facilities.
  4. Conduct a "green" audit and implement operational recommendations that enhance environmental sustainability.
  5. Develop a comprehensive master plan for facilities and determine the scope and pace of improvements, including a potential capital campaign. Consider:
    1. Accessibility for people with limited mobility.
    2. Upgraded cooling and heating and overall energy efficiency.
    3. Improved lighting in synagogue balcony and at Minnie Brown.
    4. Updated entrances, lobbies and gift shop.
    5. Synagogue downstairs acoustics.
    6. Library collections.
    7. Minnie Brown and synagogue kitchens and restrooms.
    8. Minnie Brown upstairs decor.
    9. Minnie Brown downstairs improvements/renovation.
